After a luxurious spending spree, Rika becomes addicted to her newfound life as an embezzler.
When Kota reveals that he needs to repay a loan that he took for his tuition, Rika pretends to be richer than she really is and helps repay the debt by stealing a client's deposit. Flattered by Kota's attention and unhappy with her self-centered husband, Rika quickly enters an affair with Kota. During one of her sales pitches, she meets university student Kota (Ikematsu Sosuke), the grandson of a particular troublesome client. Rika (Miyazawa Rie) has just been made a full-time staff at her local bank and charged with selling savings bonds. Miyazawa is backed by an equally strong supporting cast, including Kobayashi Satomi ( Seagull Diner) as a serious, no-nonsense co-worker, former AKB48 member Oshima Yuko as a young colleague who's more than what she appears to be and Ikematsu Sosuke ( Our Family) as the young lover. In a challenging, emotionally complex performance that has earned her numerous acting awards in Japan and a Best Actress nomination at the Asian Film Awards, Miyazawa stars as a bank teller who falls into an extramarital affair with a younger man and begins using illegal ways to fund their escapades. After making the switch to stage acting for several years, Miyazawa Rie ( Tony Takitani) makes a spectacular comeback to the silver screen with Pale Moon, an engrossing noir thriller from director Yoshida Daihachi ( The Kirishima Thing).
